Why Face ID will now work in landscape mode with Apple IOS 16

After launching iOS 16 at the Worldwide Developers Conference event yesterday, Apple added landscape mode to Face ID.

No changes have been made on stage, however on "compatible iPhone models," Face ID may be used to bypass the lock screen when in landscape orientation.

It is yet unclear what it is. It might be as straightforward as "everything but SE," or there might be a restriction that precludes older models from implementing Face ID.

As iOS 16 is soon to go on sale, this will become obvious.

By the way, using Face ID for tasks like authenticating into websites or approving purchases all function in landscape mode.

Face ID in the landscape is not a new feature. Although the iPhone does not, certain iPads have supported it for years.

It's vital to remember that not all iPhone 6 and 7 models can receive Apple iOS 16 updates. The lineup consists of the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S, and 6S +. iPhone 7 and 7+ are part of the 7 series. For the remaining operational days, both lines will be in service.

Since the 7 Series was debuted in 2016, fewer individuals have Apple's 6 Series, which was first introduced in 2014. Newer iOS releases are compatible with iPhone 8 and subsequent models.

However, the most recent iPad OS 16 update is compatible with the 5th generation iPad.
